Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 Beta

Microsoft hat heute Einladungen zum Betaprogramm der zweiten Version des Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (BSA) verschickt. Bei dem BSA handelt es sich um ein kleines praktisches Tool, welches einen PC auf ungünstige Konfigurationen sowie auf fehlende Patches überprüft. Dabei spielt es keine Rolle, ob man den eigenen Computer oder einen Computer im Netzwerk überprüfen will. Und das sind die neuen Features:

Access to the live Microsoft Update site and an offline catalog for customers with limited Internet access
Configure clients to use Microsoft Update
Configure clients being scanned with the required version of Automatic Updates and Windows Installer
Compatible with Windows Update Services (WUS)
Automatic determination of the assigned WUS server
Provide a "not yet approved" score for WUS server administrators
Can run multiple copies of MBSA 2.0 for increased scanning performance
Can use the tool side-by-side with MBSA 1.2.1 during migration
Input file of computers / IP addresses to be scanned up to 500,000 entries
Pass a username and password on the command line
The 10,000 computer network scan limitation has been increased to 500,000
Can specify a local offline catalog during a MBSA-style scan
Can fully suppress all Internet traffic for a scan
Current Update Compliance (history) appears in the report
Updates that require a restart of the computer will be annotated as the reason for non-compliance
XML output offers better integration for update scanning
Specific Web links for locating updates and taking necessary actions
Elimination of the blue asterisk 'Note' message for security updates
Maximum bulletin severity and 3rd party related IDs (CVEs) now available in report details
Stored reports observe a *.mbsa file association and can be more easily viewed
