Microsoft continues to receive thousands of requests each week, so the Windows XP Preview Program (WPP) has been extended! New orders for Windows XP Professional Release Candidate 2 (RC2) will now be accepted through September 19, 2001. To place your order, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/beta/. RC2 is the last trial version of Windows XP before the final release makes its public debut on October 25, 2001. RC2 is available via download only. Preview Program participants will have until September 30, 2001 to download RC2 after purchase.

Note: The Windows XP Preview Program offers only Windows XP Professional, the next version of Windows for business users and advanced home users. Windows XP Home Edition is not available through the preview program. Test versions of Windows XP Professional expire after 180 days.

After you install the WPP pre-release version of Windows XP on your machine, you can upgrade to the final version of Windows XP Professional only, not to the final version of Windows XP Home Edition. Migrating your computer to Windows XP Home Edition after installing the WPP will require a clean installation of the operating system.
