Wie üblich, wenn die Oberfläche von Windows mal wieder ein anderes Aussehen spendiert bekommt, setzen sich fleissige Geister daran, diese neu gestaltete Benutzeroberfläche auch für Windows XP verfügbar zu machen.
Genauso ist es auch dieses Mal geschehen - ein Entwickler mit dem Nickname
Windows X macht die Oberfläche des kommenden Windows-Betriebssystems Vista mit Hilfe seines Windows Vista Transformation Packs auch für Besitzer von XP-Systemen verfügbar.
Das Paket setzt Windows XP mit Service Pack 2 voraus und installiert neue Symbole, Hintergrundbilder und Visual Styles, die auch einzeln im Internet erhältlich sind. Der Autor empfiehlt das Abschalten der auf dem System installierten Anti-Viren-Software um das Ersetzen von Dateien nutzen zu können.
